The Idea Behind The #HTBARP Werkschau
The idea for the #HTBARP Werkschau first occurred to me in June 2016 when I started asking concert photographers to use my unique hashtag, #htbarp, on Instagram when posting their concert photos.
After 6 months, we had collected 55,000+(!) awesome concert photos in the #htbarp gallery. It was unbelievable!
So, I thought, how cool would it be to give people the chance to get their work published and receive worldwide attention?
The idea of the #HTBARP Werkschau was born. I began to curate the Instagram gallery and chose 55 concert photographers to be published in the first issue. Here is already #HTBARP Werkschau No.3!
About Matthias Hombauer
I'm Matthias Hombauer. I spent years as a frustrated Ph.D. student until I discovered my passion for concert photography and found a way to become a professional live music photographer with no training!
Since then it's been an unbelievable journey for me - working with artists like Iggy Pop, Peter Gabriel and The Prodigy, getting published on album covers, tour posters and magazines, being a regular contributor to international blogs like Rolling Stone, PetaPixel, Huffington Post UK and advising people at workshops, exhibiting my music pictures and, travelling as a tour photographer around the world.
It's hard to imagine that, without having any professional training in photography, I went from being an absolute beginner to shooting for the most famous alternative bands on this planet.
